Albert Meagle

About me:

Born in Dublin, Ireland. From a very early age I took an enthusiastic interest in painting. As a young man I was fascinated by what I considered to be basic requirements of this difficult profession: skill of execution in the chosen medium as well as expertise in making an interesting, original statement.

When I came to the lovely village of Cómpeta in the late eighties, I found here a constant and everchanging source of inspiration for my painting. My activity in real estate over the years gave me a steady income but Art, however, was always there on the fringes and my pen and ink drawings in advertising provided a welcome artistic outlet. Down through the years I managed to have some solo and group exhibitions of my watercolour paintings.

With my retirement I returned completly to painting, the setting up of a studio/workshop, the wielding again of the tools of the trade and a firm dedication to the chosen technique. Plein Air Painting is the greatest and most satisfying challenge for me. I just love to go outdoors and capture the moods and different lights in the changing landscape. Cómpeta itself and the surrounding area of the village are a nature lovers´ paradise and with the brilliant Mediterranean light provide everything an artist could hope for.

Using the lovely medium of watercolour I hope to be able to interest the eye of the observer. In this violent, unsure world of ours, my wish is to provide access to a quiet, restful place where the viewer can contemplate the world and the way I interpret it.

Through my demonstrations and assistance on location I should like to help those who wish to learn the skills of watercolour in this beautiful Andalusian area.
